BAHRAIN PLANS TO LAUNCH ECO-FRIENDLY UNDERWATER THEME PARK

The Kingdom of Bahrain, has a long maritime history and for divers offers some of the best diving & snorkeling sites in the world and following a recent announcement it looks a like new experience can be added to the list as Bahrain announced a brand-new diving experience for the region: an eco-friendly underwater theme park.


The unique underwater playground spanning an area of more than 100,000 square meters, will feature a submerged 70-metre decommissioned Boeing 747 reported to be the largest aircraft ever to be submerged.


This one off diving site will also features other submerged replica's such as a traditional Bahraini pearl merchant’s house, artificial coral reefs and other sculptures that will be placed underwater as a safe haven for coral growth and as a habitat for marine animals according to the Council.


The details of the project were announced by the personal representative of His Majesty King Hamad, president of the Supreme Council for Environment, His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa and is expected to open to visitors by this summer.
