PRESENTING STEINWAY & SONS ELBPHILHARMONIE LIMITED EDITION

Steinway & Sons honors the concert hall on the River Elbe with an exclusive special edition.

Steinway & Sons has launched a new grand piano series created in collaboration with the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. Steinway & Sons honors the new landmark of the Hanseatic city with its limited edition of just eight, offering exclusive pieces to music and design lovers. The names Steinway & Sons and Elbphilharmonie stand for excellence in music and outstanding cultural values. Already with the opening of the Steinway & Sons SPIRIO Lounge in the immediate vicinity of the Elbphilharmonie, a thematic and spatial bridge between these two cultural institutions was struck, which now reaches another climax with the creation of this extraordinary limited edition.

The STEINWAY & SONS ELBPHILHARMONIE LIMITED EDITION features some of the striking design elements of the Elbphilharmonie, such as the silhouette of the building in the music stand, optionally in black polished or oak, as well as an interpretation of the point grid on the interior façade elements of the Hamburg airbrush artist Thorsten Boehm has applied by hand. The fabric cover on the bench is identical to that of the seats in the Great Hall. The silver-colored cast iron plate and chrome-plated fittings underline the modern look. Five grand pianos are also equipped with SPIRIO, the innovative self-playing system with which artists can be experienced live at home.

Since its opening in January 2017, the Elbphilharmonie has become one of the top addresses for music lovers from all over the world. With the limited edition, the unique appeal of the Konzerthaus on the Elbe, designed by the Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, is once again acknowledged, also idealistic, because thanks to the sponsorship of a great pianist every grand piano receives its own individual touch. Lucas & Arthur Jussen, Igor Levit, Jan Lisiecki, Brad Mehldau, Daniil Trifonov, Mitsuko Uchida, Anna Vinnitskaya and Yuja Wang stand behind this project with their sonorous names, as well as the fact that 20,000 euros per sold wing are donated to the Elbphilharmonie Foundation to benefit the musical education of children, adolescents and families,

Each future owner receives a personal certificate and the opportunity to meet the godfather of his grand piano personally and to experience him or her live in the Elbphilharmonie.
