SCHUMACHER TAKES TO THE TRACK

Following in the footsteps of his seven-time World Champion father, Mick Schumacher got behind the wheel of a F1 Ferrari on Tuesday, before switching to the Alfa on Wednesday.

The two-day Bahrain in-season test saw the young prodigy Mick Schmacher, the reigning European Formula 3 title holder make his debut in a F1 machine completing 56 laps for Ferrari before finishing second overall after being pipped by Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

Although rain interrupted Tuesday’s running Schumacher claimed being behind the wheel of the Ferrari was "like home already".

It was feeling like home already, it was beautiful to make those first laps and to see all those guys working on the car and working with me. I felt very comfortable and felt at home" said Schumacher.

On Wednesday Schumacher was in the Alfa Romeo to close off the test and completed 70 laps, finishing sixth and 0.969s off Russell's leading benchmark.

Since 2016, Schumacher has driven for the successful Prema team - an alma mater for F1 drivers Charles Leclerc, Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly, Lance Stroll and Antonio Giovinazzi and earlier this year was signed by the Ferrari Development Academy appearing comfortable performing in the famous red car.
