Ferrari suffered their first major setback of the F1 testing after a car fault saw Sebastian Vettel crash out on another McLaren-led day of testing.

Vettel was on his 41st lap of the day when his Ferrari SF90 left the road at Barcelona’s Turn 3 hitting the Tecpro barriers causing extensive damage to the car. Vettel, who was third fastest, said the team were having difficulty establishing what had caused the incident but said he felt "I wasn't in control anymore and I went straight into the barriers. We are flat-out trying to understand."

Vettal was taken to the medical centre and declared OK however the same could not be said for the SF90 which was removed from the track aboard a low loader

The incident also impacted on teammate Charles Leclerc’s seat time, with Leclerc only managing to head out on track in the last remaining minutes of the day following a delay of nearly five hours.

Meanwhile McLaren ended the day top for a further day with Sainz setting the bar and the fastest track time thus far with 1:17.144 durning the morning session on C4 compound.

Mercedes continue to give nothing away operating under the radar with ' Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton ending the day in eighth and ninth respectively, while Renault pair Nico Hulkenberg and Daniel Ricciardo took 10th and 12th.
