The Flower Diamond is a 3.02 carat pear-shaped, modified brilliant-cut diamond, which showcases a perfectly symmetrical, six-petal flower in the heart of the stone, making it a natural marvel. The hydrogen cloud inclusions (a visible imperfection within a stone) that make up the flower are entirely naturally-occurring and one-of-a-kind. After being mounted in a platinum necklace with a total of 32 carats of diamonds the flower is clearly visible with the naked eye.

The Gemological Institute of America or GIA graded the diamond as a Fancy brown-greenish yellow and was extensively studied by Wuyi Wang and Wendi Mayerson of the GIA Gem Trade Laboratory, New York, New York. John Humbert, the owner of Sterling Promise Inc. and The Flower Diamond, says the diamond “appears more greenish.”
The Flower Diamond was found by a miner in the jungles of Minas Gerais, Brazil, in the year 2000. Without the means to really study or re-cut the diamond, it remained rough at 6.23 carats until Humbert, a gemologist living in Brazil at the time, bought it. Knowing this was a special find, Humbert purchased the diamond in hopes of presenting the flower-shaped inclusion as a once-in-a-lifetime find. “You need to see it with your own eyes to understand how incredible it is. It’s hard to believe it occurred naturally,” says Humbert.
