Zara founder and billionaire Amancio Ortega has agreed to purchase a 64-floor skyscraper in New York's Financial District..


One of the world's 30 richest entrepreneurs and Spain's wealthiest person Amancio Ortega who Forbes estimates is worth $58 billion, founder of the retail giant Inditex better known as the Zara brands has agreed to purchase a giant 64-storey residential tower spanning 330,000 feet via his real estate group Pontegadea from Carmel Partners for a cool $500 million according to news outlet Reuters.



The luxury building located at 19 Dutch Street in Manhattan, stands 770 feet tall and is home to 500-apartments meaning the deal works out at roughly $1million per unit.


Amancio Ortega's Pontegadea Group seems to be on a property spree of late having recently purchased one of the largest single-office buildings in Scotland and a landmark skyscraper which houses the headquarters of the Royal Bank of Canada for around $800 million in Toronto.
