A LANDMARK RETURNS TO THE ROAD

To mark it's 80th anniversary Lincoln reintroduces a blast from the past with its limited edition 'Coach Door Edition'

Launched in 1939 the Lincoln Continental, not to be confused with the Bentley version of the same name has become an icon within the luxury car domain and so to mark it's 80th anniversary Lincoln have launched the coach door edition - limited to just 80 examples the edition features the once distinctive center-opening “coach doors” which have otherwise become known as "suicide doors".

Built in limited numbers, the Coach Doors Edition is obviously a tribute to the fourth-gen Continental, the car in which John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. Although the center-opening doors were only offered on this model in the 1960s, they somehow became synonymous with the Continental.

Further upgrades to this new edition include an expanded center console with wireless phone-charging pad for rear-seat passengers plus a long list of standard features, including the 30-way Perfect Position front seats, Active Noise Control, and a Revel Ultima audio system. It is based on the range-topping Black Label trim and will be available in a number of unique interior themes like Chalet and Thoroughbred, both of which feature vibrant color schemes and two-tone upholstery.

For power the Lincoln Continental 80th Anniversary Coach Door Edition is pretty standard with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, which produces 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque and six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

The Lincoln Continental 80th Anniversary Coach Door Edition will debut in 2019, pricing has not yet been announced however Lincoln is now taking orders for the 80 cars.
