Mar del Cabo by Velas Resorts has introduced a new “Pawsh Spa” signature pet ritual overlooking the Sea of Cortez. Dogs are soothed with the sound of Tibetan singing bowls paired with a natural-bristle brush massage. The treatment continues with paw hydration using organic shea butter and jade rollers, intended to cool and soothe pets after time in the Los Cabos heat. The 20-minute treatment concludes with a house-baked treat made with natural, dog-friendly ingredients prepared by the hotel's culinary team. Throughout the 20-minute ritual, owners are served a lavender lemonade while remaining present alongside their pet to ease separation anxiety and reinforce the bond between the two. 

The launch reflects a broader shift in travel patterns among pet owners. Couples without children who travel with a dog, sometimes referred to as Dinkwads, are emerging as a significant segment within the travel industry. A Morgan Stanley survey found that 34% of respondents between 18 and 34 intend to get a pet, a group that also tends to spend more on their animals. Separately, 26% of dog owners identified pet care while traveling as the second-biggest challenge of pet ownership.

Pawsh Spa joins a broader set of pet offerings at Mar del Cabo. The Very Important Pets VIP Experience is a four-night retreat for small to medium-sized pets and their owners that includes a suite outfitted with a pet bed, personalized bowls, and curated toys, along with in-suite grooming, a photoshoot, beach walks with a handler, tailored daily meals, and a "Dog-Friendly Cabo" guide to nearby pet-welcoming spots. Another, the Pampered Pooch Package is a three-night offering in the resort's Penthouse Suite that includes pet-friendly airport transportation, a chef-prepared pet menu, a sunset picnic, and up to three one-hour dog-sitting sessions during the stay.
